Reviewing the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer and Setting Powder

Fenty Beauty revolutionised the beauty industry when they came out with 50 shades of their Pro Filt’r foundation, and now they’ve done it again with another 50 shades of concealer! I was really excited about this concealer, especially after reading rave reviews, so I had to try this myself, as well as their new setting powder.

Concealer in the shade 235

I bought their concealer and setting powder from Harvey Nichols, the concealer costing £19 and their setting powder costing £24. I looked onto the website for the best shade match, which had a helpful table showing which concealer shade corresponded to each foundation shade. Since I am shade 240 in the foundation, I chose shade 235 for the concealer, and the shade ‘Butter’ for the setting powder.

Above is the setting powder in the shade Butter. I really like the packaging of this, and it looks really sleek and expensive.

I decided to try the concealer on top of the Fenty foundation. If you’ve read my review on the foundation, you’ll know that it’s not my favourite, as it is a little bit dry for me, but it does look nice in the summer when my skin is a little oilier. I also do find it breaks me out as well. Anyway, I figured that the concealer is supposed to complement it so I wore it anyway.

At first try, I found the concealer to be a little lacking in coverage (although it says medium to full coverage), and I would say it is light to medium coverage. What I do really like is the finish. I love a concealer that has a skin-like finish, and this definitely has that. The setting powder look amazing when I first put it on. It leaves the skin looking super smooth and velvety, without looking dry or cakey.

This is me wearing the concealer and setting powder. I had them on for about a good 6 hours, and found that the concealer looked quite creased, and the areas I had set my face using the powder looked quite shiny. I tried the concealer again, except instead of under the eyes, I used it to spot-conceal every day for a week (my acne was very bad!) and it worked wonders! Because the concealer has a natural finish, it was perfect for spot concealing, and it lasted all day. I still need to give the setting powder another go, but I do feel you may need a few touch-ups if you’re thinking of wearing it for the whole day.

Have you tried the Fenty concealer and setting powder? Would you like to? Leave me a comment- I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂
